
Held Under British Cycling Federation Cyclo-Sportive/Tourist Regulations
I. IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER
CIRCUIT(s): The Start/Finish staging area and the “registration” are located at Pen Y Dre Farm, Lanvihangel, Nr Abergavenny, Wales, NP7 8DH. UK.
OBLIGATIONS AND SAFETY:
1. WHILE IT IS NOT MANDATORY WE STRONGLY SUGGEST ALL PARTICPANTS WEAR A HARD SHELLED HELMET.
2. ALL PARTICIPANTS ARE COVERED BY BRITISH CYCLING THIRD PARTY INSURANCE FOR THE DURATION OF THE EVENT THE COST OF WHICH IS INCLUDED IN THE ENTRY FEE. THE ORGANISATION IS COVERED FOR CIVIL PARTY LIABILITY.
3. FULL RESPECT OF PUBLIC ROAD REGULATIONS AND THE USE OF ONLY THE LEFT-HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD ARE COMPULSORY
- Individual support cars are strictly forbidden; any participants see to use one will be taken out of the event.
- The organisation strongly advises that a rigorous physical preparation precedes the participant’s arrival at the starting line. The Tour of the Black Mountains contains a number of difficult climbs, a triple front chain ring is recommended if you feel that your climbing ability could do with improvement.
PARTICIPATION AND OBLIGATIONS : The “ Tour of the Black Mountains: is open to everyone, with or without a license and must be at least 16 years old as of the 26th May 2007 (the age considered will be the age of the current year).
Please attach a signed cheque made out to “Pendragon Sports” to the application form and send to: Pendragon Sports, The Old Rectory , Sutton Montis, Nr Yeovil, Somerset, BA22 7HD, United Kingdom.
All payment remains the property of the organisation; no reimbursement will be made in case of withdrawal from the race, for any existing reason, however should you become ill or injured we advise that you do not take part in the ride and in this instance we will transfer your entry to the next years event (please confirm, this to us in writing before the closing date for entries, otherwise we will have to charge you the full amount for an entry the next year). Entries will cease to be taken on the 14th July 2008 at 12.00. Please also note that we can no longer transfer entries from one person to another because of the huge number of requests that we have.
An acknowledgement of receipt will be sent by e-mail.
The organisation has limited the number of participants to 500 per day.
RACE NUMBERS : should be picked up, preferably, Friday 25th May 2008 between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the event area , Race Numbers can also be picked up the morning of the race before 8.00 a.m. at the latest. No Race Numbers shall be sent by Post.

RESPECTING THE ENVIRONMENT : cycling is a very popular activity, in which contact with nature is fundamental. We firmly ask you not to throw anything on the roads (paper, wrap, bottles....): the natural environment must be preserved and the longevity of our race depends on this. Trash bags will be available for you at the replenishment stations and at checkpoints.
ELECTRONIC TRANSPONDER BRACELETS : when you pick up your Race Numbers, our organisation will also give you an electronic transponder which should be attached to your front wheel quick release spindle for time checks during the race and overall placement by category.
A £5 deposit for the transponder is requested which will be refunded when you hand it in to the organisers at the finish.
II. TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
CHECKPOINTS : the starting checkpoint will open at 8.00 a.m. and close at 9.00am.
Before the start, all participants must pass through the “start area” for registration by transponder.
To avoid any cheating, the organisation will have different transponder checkpoints : Checkpoint “ start “, Checkpoint “ in progress “, Checkpoint “ finish “.
All participants that do not register at one of the “CHECKPOINTS” will be automatically considered disqualified.
ASSISTANCE : you will be provided with the following :
· You must take care of your own mechanical repairs (flat tire....), nonetheless, mechanics and small accessories and parts, payable on the spot, will be available along the route. If however you are unable to pay immediately a bill will be sent to you by post after the race by the repairer.
· Appropriate medical assistance provided by the Red Cross.
· Communication with the A&E at local hospitals.
· Technical assistance with help and radio connection by intermediary of the organisation’s cars covering the event.

A “sweeping” vehicle will be at the tail-end of the race. All cyclists taken over by this vehicle will be asked to either get in the van, or to go on without a race number and return their transponder while being cautious with traffic.

The events will be timed and will be placed into the following categories :

Participants in 115 mile and 85 mile can obtain a medal.

V. REGULATION AGREEMENT
This regulation is considered as accepted as soon as registration is completed. The organisation has the right to change the regulation for safety reasons or for exceptional circumstances beyond our control.
You accept and agree that neither the organisers, nor their agents, officials, helpers, sponsors and fellow competitors shall be liable in any way or in any circumstances, for any damage, loss or injury that you may suffer during, in connection with, or as a result of partaking in this event, however caused.
This event is held on the public highway and you participate entirely at your own risk, that you must rely on your own ability in dealing with any hazards, and that you must ride in a manner which is safe for yourself and others. You must also ensure that the cycle that you ride in the event is in good working order and properly maintained, and you understand that while the organisers will endeavor to get all participants back to the start in case of injury or breakdown circumstances may dictate that this is not possible and that you must make your own arrangements in the event of you failing to complete the course.
